New Wave Wednesday: "Sledgehammer", by Peter Gabriel
Image via WikipediaThis week's New Wave fave comes straight out of 1986, with Peter Gabriel's hit Sledgehammer, from the album So. The former Genesis member hit number one on the U.S. Billboard charts, knocking his band mates off the top spot.
The lyrics are all supposed to be metaphors for the sex act, combined with imagery of conception, fruits and vegetables, bumper cars and my personal favorite, dancing chickens.
