The news of the ruling by a three-member panel of the 9th District Court that the U.S. government must cease enforcing DADT immediately has sent shockwaves of cautious optimism throughout the LGBT community and the military. As we wait with increasing impatience for certification, activists warn that it's still not safe for LGBT service man and women to come out yet.

Victor Fehrenbach, who has been fighting his own discharge since being outed in 2008, just two years shy of his retirement.
