Sarah Palin Resigns

With two years of her current term left to serve, Alaska governor Sarah Palin announced her resignation today, effective July 26, at a hastily called news conference at her home in Wasilla. The moose hunting maverick gave no details about her plans.

According Associated Press, her spokesman said, "She's looking forward to serving the public outside the governor's chair."

Speculation about the future of the Neo-Cons' favorite shopaholic is all over the place. Some say the 2008 Vice Presidential candidate, who cost Sen. John McCaine his presidential bid, may be laying the groundwork for a 2012 presidential bid of her own. However, political analyst Larry Sabato, from Charlottesville, Va said, "It's absolutely bizarre, and I think it eliminates her from serious consideration for the presidency in 2012."

One political observer speculates that Palin may seek a more public forum outside Alaska in TV or Talk Radio in order to strengthen her base for 2012.

This should be good. I've missed Tina Fey.
