Elton John Wants to be a Mommy

Following on the tails of fellow divas Madonna and Angelina Jolie, Elton John and his civilly-united partner David Furnish have told the Ukrainian press they would like to adopt a baby boy they met at an orphanage they visited while the performer toured the Ukraine. Many of the babies at the orphanage lost their parents to AIDS.

The entertainer, who thinks civil unions are good enough, says he has wanted to adopt a child for a long time, but hadn't done so due to his extensive travel schedule and his age (62). He said that once he met the child, named Lev, it was love at first sight. "I would love to adopt him. I don't know how we do that but he has stolen my heart. And he has stolen David's heart and it would be wonderful if we can have a home. I've changed my mind today."

I can't help but wonder if the first couple of gaydom will stop at just one child or go the Brad and Angie route and get one to match every outfit.
UPDATE:

It turns out civil unions aren't good enough when it comes to adopting a Ukrainian orphan. According to an AP story, Sir Elton was informed today by Ukrainian officials that he did not qualify to adopt baby Lev. Ukrainian law states that the adoptive parents must be married and no more than 45 years older than the child they want to adopt. The pop super star is 62 and the Ukraine does not recognize domestic partnerships as marriage. Maybe that's why Madge and Angie do all their baby shopping in Africa and Asia.
