Initially released in 1982, "Love is a Stranger" flopped on the charts. After Eurythmics released their album "Sweet Dreams (are made of this)" in and the success of its title track, Love is a Stranger became the band's fifth Top 100 hit in '83.
The video features lead singer Annie Lennox as a high priced call girl with bandmate Dave Stewart as her chauffeur. What I love most about this video is that Lennox switches back and forth between a very feminine character and her trademark androgynous look. Androgyny was very hip back then. (Can you say Boy George?) Some people (very stupid ones) even thought that Lennox was a drag queen.
