At Equality California's Harvey Milk Day celebrations over the weekend, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi discussed the the frustration felt by the LGBT community and her commitment to passing the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) and overturning The Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and DADT. Pelosi told her audience, "Don't Ask, Don't Tell will be a memory by Christmas."
If any of these measures is going to be moved forward this year, it's going to take strong leadership in congress. I have no doubt that Nancy Pelosi is on our side. What remains to be seen is whether she still has the clout to gather enough support in congress.

Steve While I applaud her enthusiasm I don't see either of those being signed into law by Christmas.....Your right we'd hear these pretty words before not from just her but also from other like Barney ?Frank and Tammy Baldwin not to mention our Fierce Advocate..President Obama...you thought I was gonna say Joe Solmonese didn't you ...NOT he;s a worthless drama queen. but I digress I very much doubt any of the Blue dogs are going to let either of these come to a vote either this year and especially not ENDA.... that one scares the Bageebers out of them as they known its a right wing religious favorite and that those people are voters and out number us....so while all this pretty talk is pleasant to the ear it means very little if it's not followed by action and ends up being little more then a peep rally for the midterms.
