This week's New Wave fave is the 1983 hit "Hold Me Now" by the British band Thompson Twins. Founded in 1977, the band was named after the two bumbling detectives Thomson and Thompson in Hergé's comic strip, "The Adventures of Tintin". (I know, you've never heard of Tin Tin, but it was a very popular comic from Belgium and a TV cartoon when I was a kid.)
After several changes in membership, the band was pared down to the internationally successful trio that appeared at Live Aid in 1984 with Madonna.
