Once upon a time we told little kids that what happened on TV was make believe and they shouldn't take it seriously. With the birth of web cams, flip cams, video phones and reality TV, the conversation got a little more confusing.
Now, to muddy the waters even more, make believe singers on scripted TV shows are jumping out of your screen and launching singing careers in the real world.
Actually, it's nothing new. The Partridge Family and The Brady Bunch did it back in the 70's. Even the Archie Comics characters had a hit with "Sugar, Sugar", from their Saturday morning cartoon show.
It's bad enough that Real Housewives like the tone deaf, auto tuned, Kim Zolchiak and "Countess" Luann de Lessips think they can sing. At least we can laugh at them as we search for our ear plugs. But it's not fair that Glee, the show that threatens to take over the universe, has taken a bunch of cute guys who can actually sing and unleashed them on an unsuspecting public.
The fictional a capella group, The Warblers, appeared on the Today Show this morning to promote their new CD, Gleeked Out: Glee Presents 'The Warblers'. I'm really beginning to hate Glee for making me love it so much.
Damn you Ryan Murphy and your amazingly talented cast and writers!
