New Wave Wednesday: "Puttin' on the Ritz", by Taco

In 1983 Reagan was living it up in the White House while scores homeless people were living about a mile away in the all but abandoned Union Station.

Joan Collins was scheming against Linda Evans on "Dynasty", AIDS was decimating our community as the rich got richer and the poor were left to fend for themselves.

It was against this backdrop that Dutch singer Taco released his rendition of the Depression-era song "Puttin' on the Ritz". Nearly three decades later, not much has changed.
