Roanoke Equality Meeting Wed. March 3rd: Help Repeal Don't Ask, Don't Tell

The monthly meeting of Roanoke Equality will be held on Wednesday night at 7:30 pm at the Metropolitan Community Church of the Blue Ridge, 806 Jamison Ave. in Roanoke. MCC has graciously donated the use of their space, however, this is not a church function.

We'll be discussing upcoming events and projects including a "Strength Through Diversity" discussion group planned for the spring, the annual Rally for Equality to commemorate Stonewall, planned for the end of June.

We'll also be discussing an exciting new project with the Human Rights Campaign focused on repealing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" this year. HRC's Terry McGuire will be helping us schedule a lobbying session with Sen. Jim Webb's staff in Roanoke this spring. Terry wants to meet with us in the coming weeks to outline what we can do locally to help end this horrible policy.

We need your input. We need your stories. Sen. Webb is still on the fence about DADT repeal. If you are a military veteran who served under this discriminatory policy, we urge you to come forward and tell you story to Sen. Webb's staff.

Please join us. I'd love to see you all there Wednesday night.
