Pete Shelley. Shelly formed his first band, Buzzcocks in 1975 after seeing the Sex Pistols in concert. A year later Buzzcocks debuted as an opening act for the Sex Pistols. The band went on to release such New Wave/Punk hits as "Orgasm Addict" and "Love Bites".
Shelley struck out on his own and released his first UK hit, Homosapien in 1981. The song was banned by the BBC for "explicit references to gay sex".
