Judge Virginia Phillips ruled this morning that she would not suspend her ruling to end Don't Ask, Don't Tell. Obama's Justice Department is expected to appeal Phillips' ruling, but for now and until the appeal is ruled on, DADT is dead.
In the wake of today's historic ruling, former Marine, Dan Choi, who was discharged earlier this year after fighting his discharge for over a year, re-enlisted. At 29, Choi is one year too old to return to the marines, but has begun the process of entering the Army.
Choi was swarmed by the press as he approached the Times Square recruiting center. The clip is a little long at 8 minutes, 44 seconds, but it's worth it to watch this historic event.
