GetEqual Protests Obama Fundraiser in Florida

Activists from GetEqual celebrated National Coming Out Day by staging a three-pronged protest against DADT via land, sea and air last night at a high-ticket fundraiser for President Obama at the Coconut Grove, FL home of NBA star Alonzo Mourning. The price tag to attend the event ranged from $5,000 to $18,000 a plate.

Activists lined the streets leading to Mourning's waterfront estate holding ten foot long banners that read "End the Discharges Now" and "We'll Give When We GetEqual". The group also rented boats and used bullhorns to shout down the president during his speech and launched balloons flying banners with the the group's logo.

The protest did not go unnoticed by the White House press pool who reported:
"As he is speaking, air horns can be heard across the bay, and pool is told by a GetEQUAL spokesman that they are activists protesting the administration on Don't Ask, Don't Tell. Appear to have several small boats, at one point pool can hear some yelling. Some members of the audience look over but noise is not loud enough to disrupt and POTUS continues uninterrupted."
