HRC's "Project No Excuses" comes to Southwest Virginia

I received the following e-mail this week from HRC's "Project No Excuses", which was launched over the summer. The project has been arranging meetings nationwide with congressional staffers and the LGBT community:

HRC’s Project No Excuses is about meeting with your elected officials in their district offices and talking about upcoming legislation that directly impacts the LGBT community. Thank you so much for expressing an interest in being a part of this historic effort.

We have a meeting scheduled with Congressman Boucher’s staff next week on Tuesday, October 13th at 3pm in his Pulaski office, located at 106 North Washington Avenue.

Please reply to this email and let me know whether or not you will be able to attend. We already have a couple of folks participating and it would be great to have as many constituents as possible on hand. If you are available and reply with a confirmation, I’ll be in touch with next steps and logistics.

Thank you so much for everything you do in your communities to advance equality.

All the best,

I'll be attending on Tuesday and it would be great for as many of you as possible in Virginia's 9th Congressional District to show up and make yourselves heard. Boucher's district extends from The New River Valley (Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Pulaski, Radford, etc.) to the NC, TN, KY and WV borders.

Did you know Congressman Boucher supported the failed Federal Marriage Amendment in 2006? The amendment would have enshrined anti-LGBT bigotry in the U.S. Constitution.

The man himself will not be there, but here's your chance to express yourself, ask questions and send your congressman a message. Equality now. No Excuses!
