LGBT Activists Protest National Prayer Breakfast in DC (video)

The Hilton Washington, site of the 1981 Reagan... Several LGBT rights groups are protesting outside the Washington Hilton this morning. The hotel where president Reagan was shot ~ and where I worked for a while during the 80's ~ is the site of the annual National Prayer Breakfast, where president Obama will be addressing a crowd of ministers, preachers and other God folks. The event, organized by the secretive Capital Hill fundamentalist Christian group, The Fellowship, also known as The Family, has been going on for over 50 years and has been addressed by every president since its inception.

Evangelical preachers who are members of The Family are responsible for inspiring last year's still pending Kill the Gays Bill and inciting ant-gay violence in the African nation of Uganda, where activist David Kato was murdered in his home last week.

AmericaBlog's Joe Sudbay was there on the streets of Washington this morning where he spoke with GetEqual DC's Michael Dixon, who organized this morning's action, called Breakfast without Bigotry.
