The Associated press is reporting that the Rhode Island House Judiciary Committee will discuss a bill this week that would legalize same-sex marriage in the smallest New England state. Debate on the bill was delayed after last week's snow storm.
Proponants are feeling better about the bill's possible passage this year than in previous years as it has the support of newly elected Independent Governor Lincoln Chafee and Gordon Fox, the openly gay Democratic House Speaker, who cosponsored the bill. .
