Could Bieber's new 'do be the death of a popular web site? |
I'm not quite sure why the site is so popular. It doesn't appear to be a dating or hook-up site, although I can totally understand how that could work. If you're a girl who likes girls and has a thing for
Anyway, one of the things I mentioned in my original post was that Justin has gotten an Ellen DeGeneres-inspired haircut after appearing on her show. You'd think this would have upped his sapphic street cred even more, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
According to an article at AOL News this morning, "Biebians" (Bieber + Lesbians = Biebians, get it?) are not diggin' the new 'do. Danielle Owens-Reid, founder of the site says, "I get submissions every single day. Since he cut his hair, that hasn't changed. But I'm still getting the same amount of pictures of girls with the swoopy Justin Bieber hair, not the new style. It's like everyone wants to ignore the new cut, just like everyone wants to ignore the fact that he's dating Selena Gomez. It's one of those 'say it ain't so' moments."
Owens-Reid says that the denial of Biebs' new look could indicate that he is so identified with his old hairstyle, that no matter what else he may do to change it up over the years, it will always be his signature look. She tells AOL News, "It's like Jennifer Aniston and 'The Rachel.' It will never, ever go away."
Owens-Reid isn't worried about JB's new look hurting the site. She says that as long as lesbians enjoy dressing like teen-aged boys, her legions will continue to be loyal to the teen singer and, hopefully, her site.
Personally, I think Bieber's new haircut makes him look more like a soccer mom. Can't you just picture him tooling around town in a tricked out minivan with a bunch of screaming brats strapped to the back seat ? If the lesbian look-alike thing tanks, that could be a potential new fan base. I'm just sayin'.
