MN Gov. Dayton Vetoes Anti-Marriage Equality Amendment Legislation

Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton
Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton took a stand against homophobia and vetoed legislation approved by state lawmakers to put a constitutional amendment on the 2012 ballot defining marriage as only between a man and a woman. The veto was symbolic, as he doesn't have the power to actually stop the initiative, but his intent was to send a message and kick off the fight to defeat what he called a "divisive and destructive" amendment.

The following video lasts about 20 minutes because of all the additional speakers voicing their support for Dayton's actions, but you can hear his inspiring words at the beginning.
